Making Makkah Move

The Makkah cable car proposal is the idea of using cable as a way to move people through Makkah during the Hajj when the small city is inundated by millions of pilgrims. Even with the proposed subway, BRT, and rail lines, transportation needs will far exceed the available capacity. Professor Shalaby, from the University of Toronto Transportation Engineering Department, began a collaborative study on using cable in Makkah, and plans are going currently in motion to realize this project. CCC Founder, Steven Dale acted as a special advisor on this project.
